Gander 3D does not collect your data. Everything the app captures stays on your
device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers operated by us that
your scans are sent to.
What the app processes on your device
Gander 3D turns what the camera sees into a 3D model. All of this happens locally, on the device,
using ARKit, Metal and a bundled machine-learning model:
Camera images (RGB frames) — used to track the device, to colour and texture the
model, and, in Photo Depth mode, to estimate depth.
Depth maps — from the LiDAR sensor on supported devices, or estimated from a single
camera by the on-device model on devices without LiDAR.
Camera poses and motion data — the position and orientation of the device for each
frame, needed to align the scan.
RoomPlan models — the parametric room layout (walls, doors, windows, furniture)
produced by Apple's RoomPlan framework.
Source frames kept for reprocessing — if you enable “Save source frames for
reprocessing” in Settings, the captured frames, camera poses and depth are also written to the
project folder so the model can be recomputed later. This setting is off by default.
HD Object source photos and reconstruction checkpoints — this mode keeps
its source photos and checkpoints in the project folder regardless of the “Save source frames
for reprocessing” setting. They remain on your device until you delete the scan or the app.
The resulting projects — meshes, point clouds, room plans, textures, previews and exported files —
are stored in the app's own folder on your device.
What we receive
Nothing. Gander 3D has no backend. It does not upload scans, images, depth data, location or
identifiers, and it does not include analytics or tracking SDKs. If you contact support by email,
we only see what you choose to write to us.
Sharing and exporting
You decide when anything leaves the app. Exporting a model opens the standard iOS share sheet, and
the destination — Files, AirDrop, Photos, Mail, or another app — is your choice. Once you send a
file to another app or service, that service's own privacy policy applies.
Permissions
Camera — required. Without camera access the app cannot scan. On supported devices
the LiDAR sensor is used through the same camera permission.
Photo library (add only) — requested only if you pick “Save Image” or “Save Video”
in the share sheet after exporting a scan. The app never reads your photo library.
You can change both at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
Deleting your data
A single project: delete it in the project gallery. Its folder — model, source
frames, previews and exports — is removed from the device.
Everything: delete the Gander 3D app. iOS removes the app container together with
all scans.
Backups
Because scans are ordinary files inside the app's container, they are included in your device
backups if you use iCloud Backup or a local backup. That copy is made and controlled by Apple
under your iCloud settings, not by us, and we have no access to it.
Children
Gander 3D is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone,
regardless of age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date. Material
changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
