Requirements
Item
Requirement
System
iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later
Device
An iPhone or iPad that supports ARKit world tracking
LiDAR modes
LiDAR Mesh, Point Cloud, RoomPlan and Object Capture require a device with a LiDAR sensor (iPhone Pro / Pro Max models and iPad Pro)
Without LiDAR
Photo Depth mode works on devices with no LiDAR sensor; its scale is approximate
Scanning modes
LiDAR Mesh — a textured surface mesh of a room or object.
Point Cloud — a dense coloured point cloud.
RoomPlan — a parametric floor plan with walls, doors, windows and furniture.
Object Capture — photogrammetry of a single object in high detail.
Photo Depth — depth estimated from the camera by an on-device model, for devices
without LiDAR. Scale is approximate, so do not rely on it for measurements.
Common questions
The app says scanning is unavailable on my device
Gander 3D needs ARKit world tracking. If your device does not support it, no scanning mode can run.
Device requirements are listed above.
Camera access was denied
Scanning is impossible without the camera. Open iOS Settings → Gander 3D → Camera and turn access on,
then return to the app.
The scan has doubled or drifting surfaces
Move slowly, keep the surface in view, and avoid featureless walls, mirrors and glass. In bright
sunlight the LiDAR range drops. Enabling “Fuse surface from depth (TSDF)” in Settings before
scanning gives a single fused surface instead of overlapping layers.
Where are my scans stored, and how do I delete them?
On the device only, in the app's own folder. Delete a project in the gallery to remove its files, or
delete the app to remove everything. Details are in the
privacy policy.
Saving a scan failed
The most common cause is low free storage — a detailed scan with source frames can take hundreds of
megabytes. Free up space and retry; the app keeps the captured geometry until you choose to retry or
discard it.

A screenshot or screen recording, if the problem is visible on screen.
We do not ask for your scans. Please do not attach scan files, source frames or
exported models unless we explicitly ask for them and you are comfortable sharing that content —
scans of your home or workplace may be sensitive. In most cases the details above are enough. If a
file is needed to reproduce a bug, we will ask, explain why, and you can decline.
Privacy
Gander 3D collects nothing and has no servers. See the
